Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) has long been recognized in Ayurvedic medicine for its potent adaptogenic properties and its ability to modulate physiological responses to stress. Contemporary scientific research increasingly validates its anxiolytic, neuroprotective, and cortisol-regulating effects, driving interest in convenient consumption formats such as Ashwagandha tea. However, despite its widespread traditional use, limited scientific evidence exists regarding how brewing time influences the extraction efficiency of bioactive compounds particularly withanolides and how these variations ultimately affect anti-stress outcomes in humans. This research evaluates the anti-stress effects of Ashwagandha tea brewed for different durations (3, 5, and 10 minutes) using standardized root powder infusion. The research employs a quasi-experimental design involving stress-induced healthy volunteers assessed through salivary cortisol levels, heart rate variability, and the Perceived Stress Scale. The results demonstrate that longer brewing times yield significantly higher concentrations of active phytochemicals, correlating with enhanced physiological and psychological stress reduction. Findings contribute to evidence-based preparation guidelines for Ashwagandha beverages and support its potential as an accessible functional tea for stress management.
